My organization has two email domains, I'll call them domain1.com and domain2.com. I presently have an office365 account as firstname.lastname@domain1.com. I also have an alias setup for firstname.lastname@domain2.com so I can receive email in the domain for either division of our enterprise. I've determined that I cannot have "send from" an alias so I would like to change my primary Office365 account from domain1 to domain2 so I can send from that domain as my primary.
I am a global admin for my organization on Office365 so I have full access. If I navigate to the User Details page of my account each domain is available for definition as part of my username, there is a drop down/combo box to select from that includes @domain1.com and @domain2.com.
My question is this: If I change the username field will everything else about my mailbox remain as it is? My existing aliases, mailbox content, etc? If so, I think I just need to change that @domain1.com value, then change my Outlook client and smartphone to use the new username and I'll be good.
If there's another way to change my send-from email address in powershell or Outlook I'd appreciate knowing that in order to avoid potential disruption. Once I have this figured out there's about 20 other people that need to change from @domain1.com to @domain2.com due to organizational shifts.
Thanks
