We are in the process of an outlook migration from Exchange 2007 to Office 365 E2. Currently we have some mailboxes that forwards to a mail contact. The mail contact has an external email addresses. The mail contacts are often part of a distribution group. Does this convention not work in 365?
When migrating these mailboxes that currently forward to a mail contact, what powershell script should be used for the fowarding? It seems like the only Powershell command I can find in the community is the following:
Set-Mailbox -Identity user@o365domain.com -ForwardingSmtpAddress user@someotherdomain.com
Is there a command to foward it to the mail contact instead of having to put in the email address? If not, when there is a change to an email address -- would we have to update the mail contact record so that it is properly updated for the distribution list and then also issue the above powershell script to enable the mail to forward. Please advise ASAP. Thanks.
