Exchange online Distribution Group - outsiders contacts don't receive SMS

We created a Distribution Group on our Office 365 / Exchange Online environment, adding some outsiders contact to the group, mainly our phone numbers email addresses.


For instance 1231231234@vtext.com (Verizon) or 1231231234@tmomail.net (TMobile).


We notice that this phone email addresses never received the messages when an outsider sends an email to the Group. So we sent an email from an account that's originally part of the group to the group itself and only the TMobile phone receives the email as SMS.


So we added 2 phone email address to another existing Distribution Group and IF some email account that's originally part of the group sends an email to the Group, EVERYBODY part of it receives, including the phones (as SMS), independent if it's TMobile or Verizon.


So comparing the 2 groups we noticed that under Groups, selecting the Group itself, under email options the new Group only has SMTP and smtp. The 'older' Group besides that, it also has X500.


So here is the great question: 

Why when sending any email to the Distribution Group from an outsider email account, the phones don't receive the SMS?!


Is there any important relevance by the fact that one group has X500 and the other doesnt'?! If so, how to add that information there?! We have a lot of groups and we noticed that the X500 information is different from group to group.


And also why the TMobile phone receives the SMS when Sending from an insider account and the Verizon one doesn't?!
