Yesterday the President of our university sent out an email. Most users were able to see the full message but for about 20-30% of our users the message is truncated when viewed in the Outlook client. If you view the message in OWA, or the OWA app for iPhone the message looks normal, it is not truncated. I'm trying to figure out why the message is displaying this way for some people. I am one of the people that gets the truncated message. I see it truncated on two different computers. Both of my computers are Windows 8.1 (fully patched) with Office 2013 (fully patched). I will say that most of our users are Windows 7 running with Office 2010, this is not isolated to a single OS or Office version. I have tried several things this morning with no success:
- I checked my download preferences, they are set to "Download Full Items"
- I checked my mail options and removed the option for "Reduce message size by removing format information not necessary to display the message."
- I forwarded myself a copy of the message in OWA. In the forward I can see the full message in Outlook, its not truncated.
- The user resent the same message this morning, I can see the full message in Outlook on the resent message, not truncated.
- I have tried running the SCANPST on the OST files on my computer, it found nothing to repair.
- I have tried deleting everything from my computer, all PST/OSTs and profiles, and recreated everything. When I created a new profile and reconfigured my account that message still shows as truncated.
So far this is the only message we've ever had a problem with. Is there anything else I can try to get this message to display in Outlook?
