Phone calendar appointments not synching with the 365 server

my new appointments created on my Samsung S4 are not being sent to the Exchange Server but when created in outlook on my desktop they are synched with the 365 server and also end up on my phone. What needs to be done to get the phone generated appointments to be sent to 365. All other items like email and contacts are working fine from the phone to the server.
