Windows Phone 7 and text messages

I have been using Office 365 (E3) for a while and syncing to a Windows mobile 6.1 phone.

This worked fine, and any text messages I received were also synced to my email account.

I have just bought a Windows Phone 8 phone and successfully connected it to Office 365.

Syncing works fine EXCEPT text messages no longer sync to my email account.

How do I get text messages to sync?

Also on text messages if I try to send text messages from outlook or OWA the address list just gives email addresses, and will not accept manually entered phone numbers.

Lastly on text messages, I have text message backup turned on on the WP8 phone. Where is this stored? Can I access it?
