Hello,
I have a question about the quotas imposed on user mailboxes by Office 365. This is a continuation of a previous thread. (http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/p/135390/539753.aspx). The previous thread discussed quotas for Mailboxes and In-Place Hold. I would like to continue that conversation by asking about On-Line Archiving and In-Place Hold.
I understand that there is a 25Gb quota for the User Mailbox and a 100 Gb quota for the On-Line Archive. I also understand that there is a default 30Gb quota for the Purges and Discovery folders. Additionally, I understand that if an In-Place Hold is active, the Microsoft Admins can increase this 30Gb quota on a per mailbox basis.
We have the E3 plan and have set up In Place Hold on all items and all mailboxes, indefinitely. Basically, we need to be able to archive all mail messages (inbound or outbound).
I have some followup questions.
1) If we turn on Online Archiving for a user, how is this effected by In-Place Hold? Do the same rules apply to the archive?
2) If an email message gets put into the Archive, can it still be discovered by the Compliance Search?
3) Can you please explain what happens if a user deletes something from their On-Line Archive?
My real question is: "Is there any conceivable way that a user can bypass the In-Place Hold?" (either on purpose or by accident).
