I set up Exchange Online earlier this year, and so far have found it to be an excellent tool. However, I have one query.
Currently we use several email addresses on three different internet domains. Two of the domain names are with the same provider.
I changed the MX records on the domain control panels to divert emails to Exchange instead of using POP3 hosting. This works well.
However, we are still sending emails using our old POP3 login, password and SMTP settings. This works for two of the domains, but no longer with the other, as for the past two weeks or so I have received an instant error message saying:
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
[contact name] on 03/07/2013 16:48
Server error: '451 We do not handle outbound email for domain name.com'
I have contacted the domain provider who has advised me as follows:
"The best solution is to remove our mail servers from your outlook and use Microsoft hosted mail servers:
Please remove mailhost.[provider].com mail servers record from your outlook and replace it with you Microsoft outlook mail server records which will resolve the issue."
My question is, which Microsoft Outlook mail server records should I be using?
in short I would like to be able to continue sending emails from me@mydomian.com so that emails are returned to the correct mailbox, rather than sending every email out from me@mydomian.onmicrosoft.com
Any help would be appreciated. However, please be gentle with me as I am not a techie!
Nigel.
