What underpins the rules of data loss prevention?

Hi,

 

I have been doing some testing with the new features in DLP for Exchange Online. It is a great new feature and one that clients are really interested in. I have looked into the properties of the rules but I can't see anything that describes what specific content of the e-mail DLP will look for to build the confidence level. For example, if you apply the financial data policy and then send an e-mail with a credit card number it will not trigger the rule. However if you include the word 'Visa' in front of the number it will.

 

I assume it is controlled by the PolicyNudgeClassficationDefinitions<GUID>.XML file but it would be great to have an article that clearly explains how the confidence level is determined.

 

If anybody can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
